Just as important as handling consumer requests for information is having a process in place for deleting that personal information (unless it falls into an excep- tion). If the personal information does not fall within an exception, dealers must comply with the consumer’s deletion request and work with “service providers” (which definitely encompasses DMS providers and may encompass OEMs) to delete the data as well. CNCDA as Resource and Advocate Although there are many unanswered questions regard- ing how the CCPA will be implemented, CNCDA is avail- able to help answer questions and work through some of the law’s requirements. We also intend to provide additional compliance resources to our members on the CCPA throughout 2019.
