2 BRIAN MAAS, President California New Car Dealers Association President's Message A s President of the California New Car Dealers Association, I am pleased to share with you California New Car Dealer Quarterly , CNCDA’s first print publication in more than a decade. As the politi- cal landscape continues to drastically shift in California, along with swift and ever-changing industry developments, we’ve decided to introduce this quarterly publication to keep our members up to speed on important is- sues facing your business, California’s automotive retail industry and CNCDA’s ongoing efforts and activities. It is my honor and privilege to enter another year of leading your trade association in our twin missions of advocacy and compliance. While the political and regulatory climate has become increasingly more challenging for California business, I am confident that CNCDA’s staff and dealer leader- ship is ready to overcome the hurdles anticipated in the legislative, regula- tory and legal arenas in 2019, including another aggressive push to improve California motor vehicle franchise laws for dealers. It is critical that we continue to enhance our communication channels with members, providing you with relevant, timely information as effectively and efficiently as possible. California New Car Dealer Quarterly is another opportunity to do just that. While supplementing our ongoing electronic up- dates including the Bulletin, California New Car Dealer Insight, Capitol, Legal and Regulatory updates and Dealer Alerts , we hope this publication brings you additional news and association information to further engage you in our ongoing efforts to serve you, our dealer members. Our CNCDA team looks forward to another successful year aimed at protect- ing and promoting the interests of the nearly 1,400 franchised new car dealers across California.
